Lighting

When you enter the room, some lights should come on. A row of light switches to the right of the chalkboard control all lights. They are either on or off as no dimming is available.

Control Pad

The control pad is located at stage right and allows you to activate the projector, adjust volume, and select the device for viewing, and control the DVD or VHS playback.

Projection Screen

The control to raise or lower the projection screen is located on the wall just to the right of the chalkboard. For computer, DVD, and video projection, the screen should be lowered to cover the upper chalkboard, but it is not necessary to obstruct the lower chalkboard.

Microphone/PA System Use

A wired lapel microphone may be obtained for use by faculty members who teach in the auditorium on a semester basis by contacting the Academic Support Center at 882-3608 (wireless microphones are not available). To use the PA system, follow these steps:
  1. Obtain a microphone and plug it into one of the 1/4-inch microphone jacks, labeled Mic 1 and Mic 2, located near the floor on either side of the blackboard.
  2. Locate the Audio Amplifier (to the left of the chalkboard in the black metal cabinet that also houses the DVD/VHS player).
  3. Make sure the Audio Amplifier is turned on. The red power switch is on the right side of the front of the amplifier and the switch is illuminated when the power is on.
  4. If the level needs adjustment, use one of the two left-most knobs on the amplifier. The far left knob is labeled Mic 1 and should be used if your microphone is plugged into the jack to the right of chalkboard. The second from the left knob is labeled Mic 2 and should be used if your microphone is plugged in the jack closest the amplifier. Normally, you would not need to adjust turn the knob more than halfway in a clockwise direction.
Laptop Computer

To hook up a Macintosh or WindowsTM laptop computer for display from the ceiling-mounted data projector, follow these steps:

A 3.5mm audio cable should be bundled with the VGA cable to connect to your computer's headphone jack for computer audio amplification.
  4. Mizzou TigerNet Wireless coverage area includes the first and second floor classrooms in Stewart Hall. [Check with DoIT (Division of Information Technology) for a recommendation on purchasing a wireless network interface card for your laptop.]
