Strickland Hall (1969) is named in honor of Arvarh E. Strickland, MU's first African-American faculty member. Strickland came to MU as a full-tenured professor of history in 1969. Before retiring in 1995, he also served as associate vice president for academic affairs and as a special assistant to the chancellor.
