Lighting
As you enter the auditorium the lights will come on automatically. The fluorescent lights may be turned on with a wall switch
located to the right of the southeast doors. Lights above the chalkboard and teaching station can be controlled using switches
to the left of the chalkboard.

A wall switch located to the left of the screen/chalkboard raises and lowers the screen.

Control pads (see diagram) located to the left of the equipment niche (north wall, to right of stage) control the following:
- Microphone Volume Up and Down [The left control pad has two sets of Vol Up/Down bottons. Use the two buttons immediately below the AUX button to control microphone volume. The two on the left, below the CD/TAPE button, control media volume (DVD, VCR, etc.).]

Microphone/PA System Use
There are no microphones dedicated to the auditorium. A wired lapel microphone may be obtained for use by faculty members who teach in the auditorium on a semester basis by contacting the Academic Support Center at 882-3608 (wireless microphones are not available). To use the PA system, follow these steps:
- Obtain a microphone and plug it into one of the two inputs available. One input is at the black box located under the kidney-shaped teaching station. The other input is located in the floor box where the south aisle enters the teaching area.
- If there is an on/off button on your microphone, check to see that it is on.
- Use the Vol Up, Vol Down buttons located under the AUX button on the left touch pad to adjust the volume.
A wireless receiver has been installed permanently in the
auditorium. If your department would like to purchase a wireless
microphone for use in this auditorium, contact the Academic Support Center (882-3321) for assistance in ordering one.
A cable is now available to connect to the laptop being used for Tegrity recording, labeled Tegrity Audio Recording Line to Laptop. A second and somewhat similar cable, labeled Laptop Audio Line Out to Room, is also in each room. This is an "audio out" cable, so sound from a connected device (such as a laptop) can be heard within the room.

Videocassette playback functions are controlled using the controls on the device itself (any controls that are accessible
on the front of the VCR function, including On/Off, which must be turned on for the unit to function).
To play a VHS tape, follow these steps:
- Lower the screen using the wall switch located to the left of the chalkboard.
- Depress the ON/OFF button on the left touch pad to turn the video/data projector on (the touch pad is located to the left of the equipment niche on the north wall). Wait briefly for the projector to go through its warm up phase (about 20 to 30 seconds; watch for light to come out of the lens ).

Computer Hook Up to Ceiling Mounted Data Projector
To use a Macintosh or Windows laptop computer, follow these steps:
- Locate the 15-pin "D" cable on the top of the kidney-shapped teaching station.
- Attach the cable to your laptop and boot up the laptop. (Older Macintoshes require a special adapter cable to hook up to
the "D" cable. These adapter cables are available from
TigerTech
in Brady Commons.) If sound is desired from your computer, locate the audio cable on the teaching station and connect it to your computer. If network access is desired, an Ethernet port is located to the right of the chalk board.
- Press the COMP button on the left touch pad.
- The document camera must be turned on for the laptop to be displayed. Turn on the document camera using the switch located on the top, rear, right side of the document camera. If the document camera lamp comes on, turn it off using the button on the front panel of the document camera with a "sun" icon (second button from left on the top row of buttons).
- If no image appears on the screen, locate the image select button on the front panel of the document camera, just to the right of the "menu" button. It is labeled "Camera,Laptop,Card". Press the button to select a different image (Document Camera, Laptop, or Card). You may need to depress the button a second time before the laptop image is displayed. (Remember, you may need to tell your laptop to output the signal. The commands vary depending on computer manufacture and model. We recommend you check the owner's manual for your laptop since some use a "drag and drop" mirroring function and others use a specific two-stroke function key.
- Adjust room lighting as desired. (The light switches to the left of the chalkboard control the lights above the blackboard and the teaching station. The switches in the rear of the room control all lights in the room.)
- Adjust the volume using the VOL Up/Down buttons immediately under the CD/TAPE button on the left touch pad.

- Disconnect cables and leave the 15-pin "D" cable and audio cable on the teaching station.
